Bayern Munich have clinched a ninth record consecutive German Bundesliga title.

The Hansi Flicks men claimed the 2020/21 season trophy, all thanks to Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday at Signal Iduna Park.

Marco Reus’s goal and Jadon Sancho’s brace handed Dortmund the win over Leipzig, who are second on the Bundesliga table.

Dortmund’s triumph also moves them into fourth and the Champions League qualifying positions. Although Eintracht Frankfurt, who are two points behind in fifth, are yet to play this weekend — ahead of their game with mid-table Mainz on Sunday.

The Bavarians could have clinched the title two weeks ago but fell to a shocking 2-1 defeat at Mainz.

The German football powerhouse have now matched Juventus, deposed Serie A kings, for the longest streak of domestic championships won by teams from Europe’s top five leagues.

Bayern are champions for the 31st time, with 30 coming in the Bundesliga era. Nine Bundesliga titles in succession also extend Bayern’s own record with no one else.
