LAGOS, Nigeria — ARA, the supreme queen of drums, enthralled the audience with ethnic rhythms from the drum world, utilising one of Nigeria’s cultural identities: the talking drum, at the Ebonylife Place’s Victoria Hall, where “Eko Culture,” a living display of Lagos arts and tradition, was exhibited.

ARA, who is known for her mastery of this complex instrument as well as her love of her culture, opened her performance at the event, which was co-curated by Chief Nike Okundaye and The Nike Art Gallery and took place on Thursday, July 29, with a story-like song before ramping up the thrills with fast drum rhythms.

We present you some highlights from ARA’s performance at the “Eko Culture” festival this week on Godfrey Times African Rhythms (GTAR), where Kaffy Dance, chairman of Kaffy INC, and Mo Abudu, a TV and Film Producer, were captivated by the lovely rhythms.
