Zenith Bank has, again, been named the best bank in Nigeria at the 2021 Global Finance magazine best banks awards.

This is the second consecutive time that Zenith Bank will win the award.

According to a statement by Ayoola Kusimo of the bank’s corporate communications department, the Global Finance best banks award is recognised amongst the world’s most influential banking/finance and corporate professionals as the most coveted and credible awards in the banking industry.

The winners are chosen from 150 countries and territories across Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean, Central America, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America and Western Europe.

Commenting on the recognition, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, Zenith Bank group managing director, said: “This award is a strong indication of our resilience despite a very excruciating macroeconomic environment exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic”.

Onyeagwu said the award was made possible by the joint contributions of the bank’s key stakeholders and Jim Ovia, group chairman of Zenith Bank, for his pioneering and foundational role in building the structures and laying the foundation for an enduring and very successful institution.

He also appreciated the board for the deep insights and outstanding leadership they provide, the staff for their commitment, doggedness, creativity and very outstanding talents as well as the bank’s customers for their continued support and loyalty.

In February, Zenith Bank was named Nigeria’s most valuable banking brand by The Banker Magazine of the Financial Times Group.
