ACCRA – The speaker of the 8th parliament of Ghana, has been elected from the opposition party the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Unlike Nigeria or America, Ghana have no lower and upper chambers.

Ghana have only one Chamber which is headed by a Speaker that controls the affairs of the 8th parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana.

According to our Ghana correspondent, this is the first in the political history of the Gold Coast.

He is Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin and his first and second deputy speakers Joseph Osei-Owusu of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Andrew Asiamah Amoako, an Independent Member of Parliament for Fomena were also elected respectively on Thursday.

Looking at Ghana’s democracy, how would you describe the election of the Speaker of Parliament and his two deputies?
