Following the Natural History Museum department of Obafemi Awolowo University’s (OAU) proposal for immortalization, Aralola Olamuyiwa, a pioneer female talking drummer, paid a visit to the university on Tuesday, March 24th, where Vice Chancellor Professor Ogunbodede greeted her with joy.

Professor Adisa Ogunfolakan, the director of the Natural History Museum department, and Mr Femi Olaleye-Otunla accompanied Aralola and her team to the Vice Chancellor’s office. Professor Ogunbodede greeted Aralola and her team, saying, “I am glad that you are here today.” I’m also thankful to God for enabling you to pay your dues, as the world honors you today.

Professor Ogunbodede, who met Aralola in the palace of the Ooni of Ife and found that what she was trying to do was the way to go, expressed his joy by saying that if one wants to spread Yoruba and Nigerian culture, one must begin at the source. And if you want to foster African culture, there’s no better university to work with than Obafemi Awolowo University, which has a motto of learning and culture. That’s how I see it. As a result, we extend a warm welcome to you.

Professor Ogunbodede, who has toured over 300 museums around the world, including the Smithsonian museums in Washington, DC, praised Aralola’s cultural concept of the drum temple as one of the best things that could happen in this environment.

He also mentioned that when it comes to the museum and the drum temple, he has a strong vision of what they will be and what they can bring to wherever they are located.

Professor Ogunbodede and the Natural History Museum team sang the University’s anthem while Aralola, who was equally overjoyed, played the talking drum.
