A retired ophthalmologist accused Gwyneth Paltrow of aggressively crashing into him while skiing in Park City, Utah, in 2016.

The New York Times’ Remy Tumin reports that according to court filings, Ms. Paltrow, 50, skied “out of control” at Deer Valley Resort, slamming his back, “knocking him down hard, knocking him out,” and causing a traumatic brain injury and four fractured ribs. Damages are $300,000.

According to court filings, Ms. Paltrow counter-sued Mr. Sanderson for running into her and using her popularity to compel her to “give him millions.” She wants legal fees.

On Tuesday, lawyers began the trial in Park City by discussing skiing etiquette and celebrity.

Ms. Paltrow sat with her lawyers in a cream turtleneck and brown pants.
