Inter Milan won their first Serie A title in 11 years after second-placed Atalanta failed to snatch a win against Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon.

The Antonio Conte-inspired team captured their first Scudetto trophy since 2010 — the season Jose Mourinho won a treble of trophies at the club.

The Nerrazurri had won 2-0 at Crotone on Saturday evening and have an unassailable 13-point lead at the top of the league with four matches left to the end of the 2020/2021 season.

The development ends Juventus’ nine-year run as league champions with the fallen Turin giants presently battling for a champions league spot.

Conte also wins his fourth Serie A title in his second season as Inter manager; his previous three were consecutive titles at Juventus between 2011 and 2014.

The latest Serie A title is Inter Milan’s 19th Scudetto triumph and was won through stellar performances from a plethora of players including Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

It also means Inter have surpassed AC Milan — who have 18 Serie A titles — to become the second-most successful club in Italy’s league history behind Juventus, with 36 league wins.
