To end destination Ghana for the month of July on Godfrey Times Worship (GTW), we spoke with Ghana’s gospel sensation Efe Grace in an exclusive interview on Sunday where she told us about her little beginning, how she embraced her passion and her song “Lord have your way”.

Describing the worship hit as a song giving to her by God, Efe Grace said “Lord have your way” is a song that will lead you to that place of giving out your all to God.

She is one of the two gospel acts from Ghana that featured on Godfrey Times Worship this month. Efe Grace featured twice on GTW with the video of “Lord have your way” being the first published story from destination Ghana and her ministration at the Ignite Virtual Concert was the second.

GTW: God demonstrated a little beginning by creating man and not men even though he had the power to do so…could you kindly tell us about your little beginning?

Efe Grace: Before God calls you to do his work, he prepares you, he moulds you, to be who he wants you to be. And I have had my own share of it. I have fought battles that no one knew of except the Almighty. Family issues, relationship issues and all of that. I remember some years back after school, after I was done with my service, I had a challenge on choosing the genre of music I want to do. Even though I had so much passion for God’s music. Back then I thought Gospel music was not really patronized in Ghana…especially with my style of music. I thought there wasn’t no money in it because I was thinking about the business side of it. A lot of things were running through my mind. I was a worship leader back then in my Church. Finally I decided to do the two together…Secular and Gospel at the same time. I got a contract at Golden Tulip Accra as a Jazz singer and it started from there. At that very time I got the opportunity to serve under Dr Sonnie’s ministry as a backing vocalist and other Great ministries. I worked for a lot of the secular artistes too…along the line, my church didn’t like the fact that I was doing church and secular at the same time. So many issues at church, Some of them started seeing me in some way, many funny comments and a whole lot. I couldn’t take it so I left church because I felt they didn’t understand me, they didn’t care because I had no job and this is what I was doing for a living because really I felt that even if I was doing something wrong the church was supposed to help, counsel me, show me love you know. So I left church but didn’t stop doing the work of God. Dr Sonnie’s ministry taught me a lot as far as the ministry was concerned because we were all like family to him. He opened up to us so I really learnt a lot from him and started to understand the things of God as far as the ministry was concerned. It went on and on. A time came and troubles started occurring. My family went through serious difficulties. Great tribulations. And being the first child you can imagine the pressure that was on me. It was a very tough one…very tough. I got greatly hit by relationship issues. It wasn’t easy. People you cared about stabbing you in the back and a whole lot of issues. The pain, the hurt, the emotional trauma I had to go through was just tough. It got to a point in time everyone left, it was just me… No one to hold on to, I cried every night asking God why? It was left with me and my God…In the wilderness, I started getting closer to God. God was there for me…. One night I had an encounter with God. I was crying and praying asking God why and then I heard a voice clearly spoke to me….He said if I would give up everything and follow him, he will change everything. He said I should try him and see if he wouldn’t turn things around. I listened and from that time there was this strength that I got, I felt peace within. I gave up everything… the secular, jazz etc. I went into full time ministry middle of 2017. I started going back to church and this was how it all started for me. By God’s Grace I released my first single called “Yehowa Ne Mabankese” and BOOM it was everything. People started to encounter this ministry so fast that it blew my mind….Only God can do this. He has been with me through it all. I am a testimony of God’s Grace. And I know he hasn’t even started with me yet.

GTW: God prospered and is still prospering with man because of his deep love for us…We can only prosper with what we love and obviously you are doing that which you love and prospering…when did you realise this love and how were you able to embrace it?

Efe Grace: I discovered my talent at a very younger age. I realised that I had a strong passion for music. I found ease in learning music and also singing it. My father discovered that and he started to train me and all. He took me with him anytime he had a minsitration so I can back vocals for him. I had the experience and exposure very early and that really helped me. It went on and on and by the Grace of God this is where I am.

GTW: Your song “Lord have your way” is truely a divine song that an ardent reader of Godfrey Times in America described as solemn, inspiring and a devotional song, could you tell us about the song please?

LISTEN: LORD HAVE YOUR WAY

Efe Grace: God gave me this song a couple of months ago. Sent it to a friend after and he helped in writing the second verse of the song. After I sent it to my producer and then started to work on it. I believe God has a plan and a message for the world and that is why he’s chosen this song to be released in this season. God promised the Isrealites that they would find him when they searched with all their hearts and souls. God is knowable and wants to be known—but we have to want to know him. Acts of service and worship must be accomplained by sincere devotion of the heart. As Hebrews 11:6 says, “Anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” God will reward those who pursue a relationship with him. God only comes in when there are no options to compete him, He only shows up when our eyes only goes up, He gets in action once our attention is on Him because He is the jealous I AM THAT I AM, He wants to be at the center and own the field. God has promised not to leave nor forsake us. In these trying and perilous times we can only ask and trust God to have His way. This song will lead you to that place of giving out your all to God and allow him to refill , allow him to lead the attack , in fact allow him to own the attack . Let’s all anticipate for this wonderful piece from the Heavens.

GTW: I love your rendition of Yehowa Ne Mabankese at the Ignite Virtual Concert…Heaven meets the earth when we so worship God in truth and in Spirit and you were singing as if God was in front of you in Spirit with your eyes closed, could you tell us about it?

EFE GRACE’S YEHOWA NE MABANKESE MINISTRATION AT THE IGNITE VIRTUAL CONCERT

Efe Grace: YEHOWA NE MABAN KESE when translated from the Akan language, it simply means The Lord is my strong tower. And it’s one of my father’s songs as well which I did my own rendition. It was released in 2018. This is a particular song that speaks to my spirit a lot. It’s a very powerful song I must say. It really speaks directly to the heart and gives sooo much comfort. Whenever I get to minister it, I feel his presence in a unique way. I know most of us go through hard times in life, of which sometimes we need a comforter and a counselor. This song, is a song of assurance to every one that irrespective of the challenges that comes our way, we have a God who is working things out on our behalf.
