Liverpool and Manchester United played out a lackluster 0-0 draw in their English Premier League (EPL) match at Anfield on Sunday evening.
In a game billed as the match of the season between the top two of the EPL, both rivals cancelled each other to share the points for the sixth time in the last nine meetings, with four of those ending as scoreless draws.
It is the first time in 16 years that Liverpool have gone four league matches without a win. They have also failed to score in three consecutive league matches for the first time in three years.
The draw also extended Liverpool’s unbeaten league run at home to 68 matches on a day Jurgen Klopp managed his 200th game as manager in a top-flight league.
Although Manchester United earned a deserved point, the Red Devils are winless in their last five EPL games against Liverpool, equaling the record set between March 2000 and January 2002.
An uninspiring first period saw Liverpool dominate possession while Man United remained resolute to thwart their misfiring frontline, a task they did to good effect with blocked shots and last-ditch defending.
Mohamed Salah, Xerdan Shaqiri and Roberto Firmino all fired wide for the hosts while Bruno Fernandes had the best opportunity of the half with his free-kick going just wide of the post with Alisson well beaten.
The second period saw the visitors create better opportunities but it was all in the final quarter of the match.
Fernandes’ shot from Rashfrd’s cutback was saved by Alisson’s feet while the Brazilian goalkeeper produced an even better save from Paul Pogba’s volley to deny Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men the three points.
The point keeps Man United top of the table with 37 points from 18 matches, two ahead of second-placed Leicester City on 35 points.
RESULTS
- Sheffield United 1-3 Tottenham Hotspurs
- Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

Site owner, I may be right in saying your web server stopped functioning yesterday because I located this page through Google and all I saw was a failure page. I would email your hosting provider to ensure that it doesnt happen again as your losing visitors. I was using IE 8 browser if that helps.
I had this website saved a while in the past but my computer crashed. I have since gotten a new one and it took me a while to locate this! I also really like the theme though.
