Manchester United returned to the top of the English Premier League (EPL) on Wednesday night after beating Fulham 2-1, thanks to Paul Pogba’s brilliant winning goal.

The rejuvenated French midfielder’s goal sealed a come-from-behind away victory — their seventh of the season — to reclaim top spot from Manchester City, their neighbours, who spent just two hours at the summit of the EPL.

Man United are also unbeaten in 17 away matches and have now won in their last five visits to Fulham’s Craven Cottage.

Fulham had a dream start to the game when they took the lead on five minutes through Ademola Lookman.

The 23-year-old English forward of Nigerian heritage waltzed beyond a static United defence to meet a ball over the top before slotting into the bottom corner.

The Red Devils, however, responded with a gifted goal through Edison Cavani. The Uruguay striker pounced on Bruno Fernandes’ shot that was fumbled by the goalkeeper into his feet to restore parity at the interval.

Pogba eventually delivered the goal that proved to be the match-winner midway into the second period when he brilliantly curled into the corner with his left foot to put Man United ahead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men held out to record 41 points from 19 games, two ahead of Pep Guardiola’s galloping Man City.
