The annual Met Gala is a fashion event where celebrities come to dazzle, spark and glow in their stylishly exorbitant yet flamboyant dresses.
The show, which started in 1948, is held yearly to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
It is one of the biggest fashion shows in America.
After last year’s cancellation due to the coronavirus, the theme for this year was called ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’, where celebrities are mandated to use their masks.
In perfect but individualistic interpretations of the theme, Monday night’s red carpet was star-studded with celebrities who donned their best attires.
Kim Kardashian showed up in a full-body get-up featuring a black face covering that she paired with a body-hugging T-shirt dress, catsuit, and jersey boots – an inspiration from Kanye West’s latest fashion sense.
Also, Jennifer Lopez made eyes insatiable as she graced the event in a restrained, shades-of-brown palette, and a wide-brimmed hat, feathers-fur-and-fringe bolero jacket, and jewelry accents in silver and leather.
Rihanna and ASAP Rocky were also one of the cynosures of all eyes on the red carpet. The music star wore a black ruffle dress with a beanie and Bulgari diamonds, while Rocky was adorned in a colourful patchwork, blanket-like ensemble.
