From Serie A’s prize for player of the month in January to the 2022 prize for a foreign athlete of the year in Italy, Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen has joined the glory of Italian recognition.

The Foreign Press Association of Italy revealed the award’s recipient in a statement on Monday. (here.)

Osimhen received the recognition for being “essential to Napoli’s amazing success, thanks to his excellent play, great power, incredible pace and vocation for scoring goals,” the statement reads.

The Stampa Estera Award is an award given by the Foreign Press Association of Italy for outstanding international athletes who have made noteworthy contributions to their respective sports while competing in Italy.

Stampa Estera Award translates to “Foreign Press Prize.” It has grown in prestige and demand among Italian athletes since the first time in 1965.

Like Zlatan Ibrahimović, the 24-year-old Napoli striker is basking in Italian glory.

Thanks to a jury of Italian sports writers and experts from the foreign press, who select the winner.
